Cullect, Sole Feed Reader
In my last post about Cullect, a light weight feed reader I made some quick conclusions about the interface and harshly compared them to Google Reader. I haven’t gone back to google since I started using Cullect. Here’s why.
Don’t Bother Me, I’m Reading
I love RSS feeds mainly because I can read content without being drowned in aesthetic rain storms. I open Cullect and boom! I begin reading. The parsing engine has grown and matured over the past month and I must say that I rarely see any visual hiccups.
Cullect is one application that gets out of my way and lets me do what I came do, read feeds.
Keyboard Shortcuts == Awesome”
Rarely ever do I see a web application tout keyboard shortcuts as the primary vehicle of which to move about it’s content. Google Reader has a lot of shortcuts, but I guarantee 60% of its users don’t know anything about them. That is not the case with Cullect. Keyboard shortcuts are the primary point of navigation. Before the keyboard shortcuts, it was fairly painful to have to scroll through posts that retain 2000+ characters (including images).
What’s more is that I actually know they’re there. lol.
The Verdict
I know this is short, but most of what I wanted to say was in a previous post. All in all Cullect is a web application that actually adds value to my web content consumption, on a daily basis. I hope it sticks around and keeps growing.
